Most clients come to 338 with a situation rather than a shopping list. The right response is rarely a single service. It is usually a small combination of capabilities, brought together carefully and adjusted as the picture changes.

The four sections below describe the situations we most often work with, and the way the firm responds to each.

The Exposed Individual

A named person, or a family, whose visibility, wealth, position, or recent circumstances has placed them in a situation that requires considered protection. The work is rarely only about the person. It usually involves the home, the journey, the household, and the people around them. The aim is a quiet protective envelope that supports an ordinary life, rather than one that visibly replaces it.

In practice, this means a combination of close protection, secure transport, and residential security, planned around the client rather than around the firm's convenience. Operators are selected for judgement as much as capability and are briefed to remain unobtrusive. The home is treated as part of the protective picture, with on-site presence supported by integrated CCTV and access control designed around the specific risk profile of the property. Movements are planned in advance, supported by route and environmental assessments, and monitored in real time by our operations centre.

Where appropriate, an open-source intelligence review is conducted at the start of the engagement, to understand what is publicly known about the client and where the most likely points of exposure sit. The review is quiet, confidential, and carried out before any visible work begins.

The Portable Company

A business whose work cannot be done from one place, and whose leadership, teams, or operations move through environments where the local picture needs to be properly understood before anyone travels.

The response is intelligence-led and planned in advance. We assess the environment, brief the team, design the movement plan, and coordinate the protective posture on the ground. Throughout the operation, real-time monitoring is maintained through specialist partners whose role is to track the situation, identify any emerging risk, and provide the client's home office with a single, continuous point of contact.

Close protection and secure transport sit at the heart of this work. Where the operating environment is more complex, the engagement may also involve advance reconnaissance, liaison with private aviation, and continuous environmental monitoring. Where the journey itself requires it, we charter aircraft, arrange helicopter transfers, and coordinate the wider travel programme so that the protective work and the logistics are planned by the same hand.

The objective is for the client to arrive thinking about the meeting, not how they got there.

The Reputation Under Pressure

A client whose principal asset is the trust placed in them, and whose situation requires careful handling of information, perception, and the people around the story. The work is often invisible. The physical side of the firm may never be involved. The objective is to bring the situation back into proportion, quietly.

The response combines reputation safeguarding, open-source intelligence, and where appropriate, cyber. We monitor what is being said, identify where the pressure is coming from, and assess what is likely to happen next. Where intervention is required, it is considered, proportionate, and designed to reduce the temperature rather than raise it. We brief senior leadership directly, in person, and we do not commit anything to writing that does not need to be.

Where a member of the family or organisation is at risk of physical exposure as a consequence of the situation, the firm will quietly extend the protective picture to cover them as well. These engagements are often handled by a small, named team whose continuity matters more than its size.

The Tested Perimeter

An organisation that would rather find its weaknesses first, and on its own terms.

The work begins with an honest assessment of the perimeter, conducted with the rigour of a capable adversary rather than the comfort of a checklist. Depending on the situation, this may take four forms. A controlled penetration test of networks, systems, and applications, looking for the weaknesses a skilled attacker would exploit. A physical penetration test, in which operators attempt to breach the site itself and the protocols that guard it. A hostile surveillance assessment, in which experienced surveillance operators observe the organisation as a hostile actor would, and report on what they see. And where appropriate, behavioural detection operatives working covertly within the environment, to understand how the perimeter performs under normal conditions, when it is least expecting to be tested.

Each assessment is reported clearly, with prioritised recommendations rather than a generic compliance document.

Where the assessment identifies that the organisation is operating under continuing risk, the firm provides ongoing cyber protection of sensitive information, communications, and online presence. Where the physical side of the perimeter needs strengthening, we work through a trusted partner to design and install integrated CCTV and technical surveillance equipment tailored to the site. And we offer briefings and awareness sessions for staff and senior leadership, because a perimeter is rarely only technical, and the people inside it are usually where it is most often tested.
